I have been trying to learn the stupid qwerty keyboard for 60 years without much success. I finally found an ABC keyboard !

What an AMAZING CONCEPT .

I have been googling for days but the real reasons for this stupid letter arrangement has been lost or hidden for over 100 years.

“Thats the way it has always been done” was used to silence six generations of frustrated writers.

At age 81, I will not set any speed records for ether ABC or qwerty but I hate to think of anyone being forced to learn qwerty just to twitter

This blog and this site are all about low vision. So what is that? low vision is “not enough vision to do whatever it is you need to do,” which can vary from person to person. So it is a personal problem and I intend to help you solve your problem as I solve my own.

Less is better

Generally the less cool a page is the better it is for elderly and low vision users. Thats why I selected this minamilistic theme for my blog.

I have spent a lot of time this spring learning HTML so I could do a blog that folks with poor vision could read with ease just to discover it became a little less easy than using a blog templet . I know that a good web page looks good to everyone but when you do not see good you are not everyone.

I chose wordpress with theme Cutline
I selected Firefox with preferences set at yellow on bleckas my browser
I use safari to write posts because it works best

This is about the zillainth attempt to start blogging again. I am trying to find a way to make an easy to do but very acessible blog for low vision and elderly folks

I found this,written by my greatgrandfather in 1882, about life near Owatonna around 1860

“We had to take our wheat by ox cart sixty-five miles away. It took a whole week before we got home again, but at that time, that was all right, since it meant money.

Whoever had a hundred bushels of grain needed three weeks to get everything to market. How much easier it is today! Now we take our grain to market and return in one day”

Hindenberg crashed and burned

The Mtnneapolis bridge thing adds one more “I remember the day” story to my long list. The first one was when the Hindenberg crashed and burned, or did it burn and crash? I think they are still debating that one.
It happened 1n 1937 and was reported live by radio and then later by newspaper complete with black and white photos. This incident marked a big change in aircraft design, and likewise maybe our bridge will advance the science of crossing rivers

Crop failure

I was raised on a farm during the 1930′s and have sort of followed that activity ever since. Every few years we get some weather conditions that are not ideal for farming and the local media sends out their cub reporters to get a story.
They always find at least one young unlucky or inept young man with cute kids who will loose his farm, that has been in the family for 150 years if it don’t rain soon.
It usually rains and then they are off to cover the flood
